Our Client is a blue chip retailer who are currently seeking a Transport Manager for their DC located in Yorkshire.
The role is challenging and involves the day to day responsibility of the transport function. With the support of a team of Transport Section Managers, the successful candidate will manage a large team of drivers and support ensuring that all KPIs are met for the DC in a cost effective manner. You will manage the fleet and employee resources in a cost effective manner in a highly seasonal operation. You will manage and develop the employee relations culture on site and will deliver best practice transport processes within the DC. You will work closely with our clients stores to ensure peak delivery performance and will support new store openings through effective planning and co-ordination. You will coach your team of Section Managers and will develop and implement initiatives to continuously improve operational performance and service standards. Finally you will ensure the DCs transport operations processes are managed within our Clients Health and Safety, Legal and Security policy framework. _______________________________________________________________________ Knowledge and Skills: Our client is looking for an experienced and ambitious Transport Manager who can cope with an extremely fast paced environment and who will relish the sheer scope this position provides. Candidates must have substantial transport management experience ideally gained in a retail DC environment. A CPC is essential and the ability to plan and organise effectively is of paramount importance. Experience of Paragon is highly desirable. Excellent inter-personal and communication skills coupled with influencing skills are essential as is the ability to lead and inspire your team. You will be tenacious, getting things done by showing determination and urgency and you will be committed to continuous improvement by constantly looking for opportunities to deliver continuous improvement. Knowledge of health and safety legislation and experience of implementing H and S measures is also a key requirement. The salary range is likely to be in a range of £43 - 50k pa. The successful candidates starting salary will be determined by the candidates skill set and experience. In addition there is a company car and a range of excellent benefits. |
